I agree ...That's a fair point, and useful to know. I agree with you that Stefan has a relatively weak understanding of the philosophy of the natural sciences in general, including biology, and that hurts him in grappling with ethics in light of the parallel he tries to draw between the two subject areas.

Thanks for the kind words at the end! I suppose it's worth noting, though, that my engagement with Stefan's work basically ended in the Spring. I wrote up my final critique a little while ago, and spent some time responding to some issues raised by an interested follower of Stefan's philosophy, but as should be evidenced by the content I've posted here recently, I've mostly moved on at this point.

Thanks for checking out my work!Dannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14933199894935324897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2473166537823294555.post-19317186651840864992008-11-25T10:17:00.000-05:002008-11-25T10:17:00.000-05:00In Biological dialect there is no such a thing as ...In Biological dialect there is no such a thing as occasional mutation, there is high mutation rate and low mutation rate. 'Occasional mutation' is a term borrowed by Molyneux from Business dialect:
''In a business language, the occasional mutation means the instantaneous, transitory modifications that we suffer being ahead the new.''
http://www.streetdirectory.com/travel_guide/20188/executive_coaching/internet_business_and_transformation.html

I give no credit at all to Molyneux's writings. They are a form of extreme scientism. Did you hear about Sokal and Bricmont's story ? I am sure if every scientific speciality can be scrutinised in Molyneux's writings, you will discover a lot of these intellectual impostures.

You seem to me like a nice and intelligent chap and you shouldn't be wasting your time on Molyneux. You couldn't even build a career on this.Sonia Mansour Robaeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10559383651972743264noreply@blogger.com
